The People Behind the BaliLife Family
Bali Life is built on people. People who care, people who show up, and people who are willing to walk a long-term journey with children, families, and communities for the long term. Our Board members come from different backgrounds, bringing their own experience, practical skills, wisdom and, most importantly, a genuine heart for Bali and its people.
Many have been part of the Bali Life journey from the very beginning. They don’t just sit on a board and advise. They visit our projects, work alongside our team, mentor our young people, and invite others into the life and foundation of the foundation. Over the years, they have become trusted friends, mentors, and an important part of the extended Bali Life family. From a governance level, they provide valuable oversight, guidance, and independent oversight, helping Bali Life grow responsibly while remaining transparent, accountable, and focused on the people we serve.
Robert & Terese Hagenaar
Founder - Hagenaar Contruction | Vice Chairman, Australia
Rob and Terese have been part of BaliLife since the early days and have become much more than supporters, they are family.
Based in Coffs Harbour, Australia, they have a deep love for Bali and a particular heart for children who have grown up with less opportunity.
Rob regularly spends several months in Bali, working hands-on with Bali Life projects, fixing, building, gardening, helping around the farm, teaching practical skills and encouraging the team.
To many of our children, Rob is simply “Opa.”
Glenn Leet
Founder – Inspired Trader & Integrity New Homes | Treasurer
Glenn and his wife, Angela, have supported BaliLife since its early days.
Based in Geraldton, Western Australia, Glenn brings many years of experience in building, property development, business and consulting.
His practical knowledge helps BaliLife think carefully about sustainability, financial responsibility and good governance.
Together with Angela and their five children, Glenn has made supporting others an important part of their family life.
As Treasurer, Glenn plays an important role in helping BaliLife remain responsible and transparent in the way resources are managed
Ben Bateman
Head of People & Culture – Little Miracles | Secretary
Ben Bateman brings a passion for people, leadership and helping others grow.
As Head of People and Culture at his family’s Little Miracles childcare business, Ben works closely with staff and leadership, helping create a culture where people can thrive.
Ben has had a connection with Bali from a young age and has continued to build a strong relationship with BaliLife.
Today, he is particularly involved in mentoring BaliLife alumni as they move into adulthood, work and independent life.
Ben brings a fresh perspective, strong people skills and a genuine heart for the next generation
Dallas Brown
Founder – BHI Builder | Board Member
Dallas Brown is a builder, business owner and passionate surfer from New South Wales.
His connection with Bali began through surfing and eventually brought him to BaliLife. After seeing the work firsthand, he decided to get involved.
Dallas helped build the BaliLife Children’s Home, including the roof, and later joined the Board. He continues to share his building skills with our young people and, of course, his love of surfing.
For Dallas, helping children learn practical skills and discover what they can achieve is what makes the journey worthwhile.
Cherry Schroeder
Pastor | Board Member
Cherry has known Piter and Lyna and their family since 2000. What began as a friendship has grown into a deep family connection.
As a pastor in Australia, Cherry brings wisdom, perspective and a strong understanding of people and relationships to the BaliLife Board.
She offers thoughtful guidance and encouragement as BaliLife continues to grow and serve communities across Indonesia.
For Cherry, being part of BaliLife is more than serving on a Board. She is part of the family.
More Than a Board
These are people who have walked with BaliLife for many years. They bring different skills, experiences and perspectives, but they share one thing: a genuine commitment to people. They ask questions.They give advice. They get involved. They challenge us to do better. And they celebrate the wins with us. Their experience and involvement provide an important layer of leadership, accountability and transparency as BaliLife continues to grow.
